Bulut Points #5
Lessons by a 28-year-old (not me), researchers at Oxford, and an MIT professor
Hi friends 👋,
Welcome to the fifth edition of Bulut Points, where I share a few things that I found most interesting, exciting, or useful with you.
Let’s get right into it this week. As always, I hope you enjoy these Bulut Points and let me know what you think in the comments.
BULUT POINTS
All I’ve Learned By 28, by Ryan Allis: A fellow Tar Heel, Ryan Allis, summarized what learned about life, business, and the world in 832 slides. That may sound lengthy and scary at first, but you’ll likely find yourself flipping through the presentation quite fast. I first encountered this presentation years ago when I was in my early twenties and immersed myself in Ryan’s story and ideas. Now that I’m approaching 30 and am closer to Ryan’s age when he created this deck, I’m excited to revisit it and see what I’ve truly embodied since my first reading.
Career Guide, by 80,000 hours: This guide is the distillation of over ten years of research alongside academics at Oxford and outlines many principles that can be easy to forget in the daily hustle and bustle of work. When one pauses for a moment to take a bird’s eye view of their career, this guide is sure to help.
10 Lessons of an MIT Education, Gian-Carlo Rota: In this short essay, Rota shares his advice for other professors at MIT. While a novice reader may take Rota’s words here at face value and only interpret them in the context of MIT, the piece is filled with golden nuggets of wisdom for navigating life.
